About Jordy

Jordy Duncan is a competitive pool freediver based in Brisbane, Australia.

She was a multiple state medallist and national level swimmer until her mid-teens, and only found freediving at age 30. Since then, it's become an essential part of her life. Freediving is particularly special to Jordy because it was the catalyst to taking small steps to prioritising her health after struggling with an eating disorder for more than a decade.

Jordy can hold her breath for more than 6 minutes and swim over 200m underwater on one breath with fins. She is the women's Australian Pool Freediving Champion 2022 and 2023, and currently holds five national records (AIDA and CMAS) and one continental record. Internationally, Jordy was ranked #4 in the world for women across the four pool freediving disciplines in 2022 (AIDA ranking system).

Passionate about sharing freediving with others, Jordy co-hosts The Freediving Journal News Dispatch podcast segment with Donny Mac, where they discuss the latest freediving news, products and competition results. Jordy was also the lead commentator at the CMAS Outdoor World Championships 2022.

Outside of freediving, Jordy works full-time as a Senior Human Resources Advisor. She also enjoys swimming, going to the gym, brunch with friends, listening to podcasts and teaching her cockatiel, Frankie to whistle.

Jordy’s big goal in 2023 is to represent Australia at the Freediving Pool World Championships being held in South Korea in June. Support Jordy to get to the freediving world championships by donating via the link below.

Progress doesn’t come easy. It takes time, patience, repetition, self doubt, rising up, analysing and repeating over and over again. What matters is to enjoy the journey because eventually, you will get to where you want to be, metre by metre. Mirela Kardasevic
